11th Annual Allegany National Photography Competition

The 11th Annual Allegany National Photography Competition & Exhibition (ANPCE), sponsored by the Allegany Arts Council, is a juried competition offering $6,500 in cash prizes. The competition welcomes photographers from across the country to submit lens-based photographs created solely by the entrant. Submitted images may not incorporate images produced by anyone or anything else, such as clip art, replacement skies, stock photos, or AI-generated images.

Applicants may enter up to six entries with no maximum per category. All entries must be for sale and may not have been previously exhibited in the Allegany Arts Council galleries. Work samples must include a minimum of 2 and maximum of 6 total samples (1-6 images, 0-6 audio files, and 0-6 video files). The entry fee is $30.00 plus a $15.00 media fee. Three entry categories are available: Color (two-dimensional works printed in color, maximum 48" width); Monochrome/Black and White (two-dimensional works printed in black and white or monochrome, maximum 48" width); and Photography as a 3-D Art Form (photographic work presented in a unique, creative, non-traditional way with height, width, and depth as integral parts, maximum 84" height and 48" length and width, not exceeding 40 lbs).

The exhibition will run from March 29-April 19, 2025, in the Stephanie Ann Roper Gallery on the Frostburg State University campus in Frostburg, Maryland. The Public Opening and Awards Ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, March 29, 2025, from 6-8 PM and is free to attend. The 2025 juror is Crista Dix, Executive Director of the Griffin Museum of Photography in Winchester, Massachusetts. Jury dates are February 7-20, 2025.
