About This Call
The Arizona Pastel Artists Association invites pastel artists to submit work for the 10th Open International Exhibition, held February 28 – April 19, 2026 at the Phippen Museum of Western Art in Prescott, Arizona.
Eligibility and Requirements: Open to all pastel artists. All work must be original pastel paintings completed in the last two years (2023–2025) and not previously shown in an APAA exhibition. Work must be completed with 85% dry pastel as a final layer; underpainting is acceptable but oil pastels are not permitted. Work done under supervision, mentorship, instruction, or published step-by-step instruction is not eligible. If a photograph is used as source material, you must have taken the photograph yourself. Work copied from published images, internet sources, or other artists' work is not eligible. The artist must provide the original source photograph if originality is questioned. Accepted paintings must be identical to the submitted image; no substitutions, modifications, or repairs are allowed after entry submission. A maximum of one painting per artist will be accepted.
Entry and Sales: Members may submit 3 entries for $45; non-members may submit 3 entries for $55. Entry fees are non-refundable. All paintings must be for sale with no NFS (Not For Sale) or POR (Price on Request) designations. Sales commission: Artist 60%, APAA 10%, Phippen Museum 30%. Prices on accepted paintings must match prices on the artist's website and other platforms. Paintings withdrawn after the deadline are subject to a 25% payment to APAA of the stated sales price. Shipping is $35 per painting, invoiced separately. Hand-delivered paintings must be in a zipped portfolio with a handle and label. The artist is responsible for insurance in transit; the Phippen is responsible for insurance while artwork is in their possession. Jurors are Stephie Clark and Margaret Dyer; Judge of Awards is Karen Budan. Entry deadline is December 19, 2025. For questions, contact Nori at [email protected].
