About This Call

Pelham Art Center announces its 10th Biennial Competition for Painting, honoring Alexander Rutsch (1916–1997), an artist who actively supported the center for more than 25 years. The prize winner receives a solo exhibition at Pelham Art Center and a $5,000 cash award.

Eligibility: U.S.-based artists, 19 years of age and older. Entry fee is $35 per applicant for five digital images of available work. Entries must be submitted through the CaFE website between September 1, 2018, and January 25, 2019, at 11:59 p.m. MST. Finalists will be notified on February 4, 2019, and the winner will be notified on March 2, 2019. The exhibition runs May 3–June 22, 2019, with an opening reception and award presentation on Friday, May 3, 2019, at 6:30–8:00 p.m.

Work Requirements: Submit five digital painting images in JPEG format only. Images must be no smaller than 1200 pixels on the longest side, at 72 ppi/dpi resolution, and no larger than 5 MB. Paintings must not exceed 84 x 84 inches. All submitted images must be available for possible exhibition. Finalists will be required to submit an artist's statement, résumé, and images of 20 additional available works.
