About This Call

The 10th Annual Sanchez Art Center 50|50 Show invites California artists age 18 and over to create 50 small works (6" x 6") over the course of 50 days. Each artist chooses a theme for all 50 pieces. Creation of works will begin June 11 and end July 30, 2018, with the exhibition running August 31 – September 23, 2018.

Eligibility is limited to California artists age 18 and over. The entry deadline is Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at 11:00 pm Pacific Standard Time. A non-refundable $25 entry fee is required at the time of submission. An additional $75 participation fee is due upon acceptance to cover materials and exhibition expenses. Applicants must submit 3–10 artwork images in JPEG or JPG format under 5 MB, with 1200 pixels or more on the longest side. A proposed theme (no longer than 10 words) and description of medium(s) are also required.

Sanchez Art Center will furnish each accepted artist with 50 unprimed medium-density fiberboard (MDF) panels, 6" x 6" with pre-drilled nail holes, hanging supplies, and installation templates. All fine art visual media are accepted. Artists are responsible for hanging and taking down their own works on scheduled dates (August 25-27, 1–5 pm). The 50|50 Show is a fundraising event with all artworks for sale. All works by an individual artist must have the same price ($45 minimum; guideline $50–$175). Sanchez Art Center will process sales and take a 30% commission. Benefits of participating include an intense creative experience, being part of an exhibition of over 3,000 works with an estimated audience of 1,000 or more viewers, fellowship with other artists, and an opportunity to make works available for sale. Juror: Andres Guerrero.
