About This Call
The American Impressionist Society invites entries for the 10th Annual Impressions: Small Works Showcase, held May 1–30, 2026 at J. Petter Galleries in Douglas, MI. Artists must be current or new paid members of AIS and legal US residents. 2026 AIS membership dues of $65 must be paid prior to entering.
Accepted media includes oil, oil sticks, pastel, acrylic, watercolor, casein, gouache, and egg tempera. Work must be original in concept and execution, impressionistic in style, and completed within the last three years. Work done in any class or under instructor guidance is not eligible. Work painted from reference photos must use the artist's own photographs. No mixed media, collage, photography, digital work, AI-generated work, diptychs, triptychs, or reproductions are accepted. Entries may not have been previously exhibited in any AIS show, though rejected entries from previous AIS shows may be resubmitted if they meet requirements.
Work must be suitably framed in fine art gallery-quality wood frames, wired and ready for hanging. No metal frames, gallery wrap canvases, or sawtooth hangers are permitted; floater frames are acceptable. Maximum size (excluding frame) is 192 square inches with a maximum length of 16 inches on the longest side. Minimum size is 35 square inches. Artists may submit up to three paintings, but a maximum of one painting per artist may be accepted. Entry fees are $35 for one painting, $45 for two, and $55 for three. Fees are nonrefundable. Submit high-quality JPEG images at least 1500 pixels on the longest edge with a maximum file size of 30 MB. The entry deadline is February 2, 2026. For questions, contact Elizabeth Ahrens at [email protected].
