About This Call
River Oaks Square Arts Center is seeking ceramic vessels (mugs, cups, yunomis) for its 10th Annual Dirty South Cup Call and Competition, a national juried exhibition. Up to 125 artists will be chosen to display traditional or non-traditional ceramic vessels at the gallery in Alexandria, Louisiana.
Eligibility and Requirements: Open to all artists working in clay and residing in the United States. Functional and non-functional, traditional and non-traditional pieces are accepted. Each artist may submit up to three works, with one JPEG image per entry (5MB maximum). Work may not exceed 7" x 7" x 7". All work must be for sale with no single piece exceeding $250 in value. Entry fee is $15 per artist. Entries will be blind juried by digital images. Artists selected for the exhibition will pay a 30% commission to the Gallery on all sales. Artists are responsible for shipping and insurance costs to and from the Gallery. Works will be insured for 50% of stated value from delivery through the end of the exhibition.
Awards and Timeline: First Prize $500, Dr. Betsy Long's Choice $200, and three Juror's Choice awards of $100 each. The top 20 artists will be considered for "exhibiting artist" designation in future invitational shows. Acceptance notification is March 21, 2024. Delivery of work is due no later than 5pm on April 4, 2024. The exhibition runs April 18 - May 25, 2024, with an opening reception on April 18 at 5-7 p.m. Guest juror is Randy Brodnax, a master ceramicist known for innovative Raku firing techniques.
