We invite greater Portland-based artists to submit to Queer Spirit, an in-person exhibition at Blackfish Gallery celebrating resilience, belonging, and radical imagination through work that engages queer identity, community, and lived experience. We welcome LGBTQIA+ artists, as well as artists of all backgrounds whose practice explores these themes.
In this moment, when queer and trans lives are being targeted, Queer Spirit is a refuge and a gathering of artists whose work insists on our full, unshakable presence. Submissions may directly address queer identity, explore the broader possibilities of queerness, or simply reflect the perspectives of queer artists. Queer Spirit considers how we imagine new worlds, honor chosen family, and create spaces of care, joy, and resistance.
Artwork submitted can span 2D and 3D media, with a particular interest in experimental, thought-provoking, and installation-based practices.
