Flatfile: Spring 2014

The Flatfile program is Artspace's ever-changing collection of 2-d works by notable local and regional artists. The Flatfile is an affordable resource for collectors, a storehouse of talent for curators, and forms the basis for rotating exhibitions in Artspaces’ galleries and outside venues. Interested artists are invited to apply through open calls held bi-annually, we invite collage, printmaking, photography, drawing, painting and other two- dimensional forms of expression to be considered. Artists already in the Flatfile include recipients of the state art agency’s distinguished Artist Fellowship, the Aldrich Museum’s Radius Emerging Artist Award, and a MacArthur Genius Grant winner, as well as numerous other professional recognitions. Artspace’s collection is a significant community resource, both for the quality of the works and for its unusual ease of access; prior appointments to view the work are encouraged but not required. No other institution in the Greater New Haven area provides such direct and immediate contact with recently made works of art.
