Where fluid art and metamorphic portraiture merge to reveal what lies beyond the surface.
Artist Statement
I paint because some truths are too large for words. My work merges fluid art with metamorphic portraiture to explore what lives between the face we show and the life we carry underneath. Raised between Florence and the world of fashion, I learned early that surfaces are armor. Painting is how I look past it. Beyond the Surface is not a concept. It is a conviction. I paint on reclaimed and discarded materials because what the world sets aside often holds the most life. I work with UV-reactive pigments because I am fascinated by what light reveals. Under ordinary light, one story appears. Under ultraviolet, hidden layers emerge — colors that were always there, waiting. It is the most honest metaphor I know for us: multidimensional, luminous in ways not always visible. At the center of everything I make is healing. Not healing as resolution, but healing as movement — the brave passage from shadow into light. I paint so that people feel witnessed. Fully, Beyond the surface. — Elisa Debora Palchetti
