Artist Statement

In Mademoiselle, I seek to capture a moment of stillness, contemplation, and connection between the human figure and the world around her. A woman sits within a dreamlike landscape, her gaze turned away from the viewer, as though suspended between reality and reverie. Though still in presence, she seems to hold within her a quiet depth of emotion and unspoken thoughts.
The contrast between the darkness of her attire and the warmth of the surrounding hues creates an atmosphere that moves between mystery and tenderness. To me, this figure is more than the portrait of a woman; she embodies an inner world where memory, imagination, and emotion intertwine. The gesture of her hands, the direction of her gaze, and the silence of her expression each contribute to an unwritten narrative, inviting the viewer to discover a meaning of their own.
Mademoiselle is an attempt to capture a moment in which time seems to pause—a moment in which beauty emerges not through explicit expression, but through silence, ambiguity, and the depth of a gaze. The work invites the viewer to contemplate what remains unseen, yet can still be deeply felt.
