Aimee Carson
International Vivid Abstract Artist
Artist Statement
Aimee is a Denver-born experimental artist whose work is deeply rooted in curiosity, process, and the beauty of unpredictability.
Though she explored photography, batik, jewelry, poetry and painting during her prep school years, Aimee stepped away from her creative practice for three decades. After moving frequently throughout Florida, Texas, Arizona, Washington, and California, she spent 20 years living and working in Tijuana, Mexico.
A spontaneous visit to a local art store in Mexico sparked her return to the medium, culminating in a dedicated daily practice during the pandemic. Seeking peace and focus, she transitioned from meditative Zen doodling into rigorous artistic experimentation.
Aimee’s early collections serve as technical explorations of color, value, and material interaction across canvas, newsprint, or old books.
Captivated by the fluid, shifting nature of words and watercolor, she likens the process to the anticipation of developing 35mm film. Embracing the mystery of the "bloom" or the words to be uncovered, Aimee continues to push the boundaries of her medium by constantly testing new materials.
