Megan Lawlor
Artist Statement
Megan is a classically trained American painter, educated at Moore College of Art & Design and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, whose work bridges portraiture, figurative and plein air painting.
Born in Teaneck, NJ and raised in the coastal community of Manasquan, her connection to nature was imprinted early.
As noted in an article by Caroline Margaret, 'Lawlor's artistic process is grounded in direct observation and emotional response...Her oil paintings reflect a balance between technical control and intuitive interpretation, allowing each brushstroke to serve both form and feeling. 'Her paintings convey mood, atmosphere, and often a kind of reverent stillness - inviting viewers to linger within the space she has created.'
Megan's work has received recognition and awards from some of the most respected art intitutions in the country, including the American Tonalist Society, Hudson Valley Art Association, North Shore Art Association, Portrait Society of America, California Art Club, Philadelphia Sketch Club and the historic Salmagundi Club, where she is an elected member. Megan is represented at Main Street Gallery in Manasquan, NJ and the Salmagundi Club in New York's Greenwich Village.
