Artist Statement

In Christian theology, the concept of the "duality" of a person as both a saint and a sinner is a central idea, particularly within the Lutheran and Reformed traditions. In this artwork my goal is to show both sides of this mystery, the tug-of-war between good and evil desires. The whole person with both traits and impulses, the dark side plus the grace side – the paradox of life. Various images and colors highlight these concepts and the tension, ourselves broken and redeemed simultaneously.

Artworks are collage with screen print, photographs, thread, metal bits and added mixed media drawing.
