Artist Statement
My work explores upcycled botanical sculpture, merging natural and human-made materials to create visually adventurous forms. I am fascinated by material experimentation and the exploration of self evolution. I enjoy the textures of bark, the weave of yarn scraps, and the delicate structures of foliage in sculptural works. My work delves into themes of material waste, the ecology of natural and inorganic combinations, and the concept of growth, utilizing botanical knowledge combined with a focus on giving discarded materials a second life. I am drawn to the contrasting textures, colors, and versatility of foraged botanicals and upcycled materials, employing techniques such as weaving, drilling, braiding, and suspension to fully realize their potential and evoke emotional responses. I aim to create art that captivates and invites exploration, offering viewers a moment of escape and a space for personal reflection.
