Artist Statement

My portrait work explores warmth, dignity, and emotional presence. Using soft graphite shading and atmospheric tonal backgrounds, I create drawings that rest gently in light and invite quiet connection between subject and viewer.

I am interested in the subtle expressions that reveal character — the way a smile holds memory, or the way posture reflects lived experience.

These drawings are part of my ongoing Ethereal Presence series, which honors the quiet strength and peaceful self-acceptance that radiate from the subject — a presence that rests confidently in the light without needing to explain or soften itself.

Rather than copying photographs, I interpret them, allowing intuition and empathy to guide the portrait toward a feeling rather than a replica.

My goal is to honor the humanity of the people I draw, creating artwork that feels gentle, luminous, and quietly alive.
