Artist Statement

Following a near-death experience and a three-week coma in 2024, I woke up with an unexpected, sudden compulsion to draw. This was a creative ability I had never possessed or explored before. This sudden gift transformed my perspective, leaving me with a deep desire to express joy and uncover the beauty hidden within the often-overlooked corners of our everyday lives.

I work primarily in highly detailed black fountain pen ink with splashes of acrylic color, and my drawings focus on the textures of the mundane: weathered brick walls, urban alleyways, industrial scaffolding, and coastal piers. I utilize crisp, meticulous line work to anchor these structural, everyday spaces, then introduce deliberate, vibrant bursts of color. These pops of color serve as visual markers of human presence, energy, and vitality.

By documenting these ordinary environments with rigorous care, I depict a celebration of lives lived. Each work has a deliberate visible story, though often subtle, and sometimes tragic. My work invites viewers to look closer at their own personal worlds and discover that beauty, history, and light are constantly thriving right beneath the surface of our daily routines. I encourage viewers to say yes to life, and to not waste a minute. As I learned, it can all be gone in an instant.
