Nora Jo

Artist Statement

Born in Montpellier on September 14, 1973, Nora Jo lives and works in her hometown. Graduated from the Fine Arts of Perpignan in 1995, she was passionate about animated cinema very early following a trip to the United States, where she discovered the backstage of Warner Bros. studios. This experience leads him to experiment with 2D animation before joining the professional sector. In 2020, confinement marks a turning point in his artistic practice. She reconnects with painting by creating works inspired by cinematographic images, including Luchino Visconti's Cheetah, before developing a more personal universe. In 2025, a new step is needed when she discovers digital drawing. This practice quickly became his main mode of expression. Inspired by parietal art and archaeology, it creates a universe populated by creatures, ghosts and symbolic figures evolving in trees, above the sea or in the seabed. His work mixes poetry, humor and emotion, addressing universal themes such as memory, as in his work Al, which evokes Alzheimer's disease with tenderness and sensitivity. Today, Nora Jo develops a singular work where painting and digital creation dialogue freely. His works have been exhibited in France, Switzerland, Japan, Canada and the United States.
