Artist Statement

As an artist, I am captivated by the interplay of texture, color, and form. My passion lies in creating three dimensional ceramic pieces that immerse the viewer in a sensory experience, inviting them to explore the depths of their imagination. As a bioengineer by profession, I incorporate asymmetry with tactile continuity and texture for visual and tactile sensory perception. I employ surfaces that provide a tactile transition from a smooth, glazed interior to a rugged, textured exterior, where exposed grog and layered ridges create a pronounced sense of depth and relief, adding depth and intrigue to the composition. Vivid colors are the cornerstone of my artistic expression, as I believe they have the power to evoke emotion and provoke thought. Through the layering of bold hues and subtle tones, I strive to capture the essence of emotion and energy, inviting viewers to connect with the essence of each piece on a visceral level.
