Artist Statement

My work explores the fluid boundaries between nature, utility, and the human spirit. Drawing inspiration from regional waterways and forest canopies, I translate organic textures and flowing lines into functional pottery and clay sculptures.

Historically, my pieces focused on capturing the whimsical wonder of the outdoors using inherited family glaze recipes and tactile forms. However, the devastating impact of environmental crisis and human activity has fundamentally shifted my creative purpose. Today, my ceramics strive to fill a vital role in fostering community healing and emotional reconciliation with a fractured landscape. Through tactile, everyday objects, I aim to transform unrest into moments of peace, renewal, and a touch of whimsy. And through my less utilitarian pieces such as my sculptures and vessels I hope to hit a deeper sense of connection. Ultimately, my goal is to invite individuals into a comforting, daily dialogue with nature, reminding them of the world's enduring beauty and our own capacity for resilience. In the end, I would like for viewers to smile when they see my work.
