Artist Statement

My collage practice is rooted in reclamation, of images, materials, histories, and identities. I work with vintage magazines, damaged books, botanical imagery, pressed plants, and hand cut paper, transforming materials that already carry a past into new narratives.

I am especially drawn to publications from the early and mid twentieth century, their typography, colors, illustrations, and aged paper, but also the stories they tell about their time. Women were often confined to restrictive roles, while BIPOC communities were marginalized or absent. Through collage, I can intervene in those narratives, bringing overlooked identities to the center and creating spaces filled with freedom, dignity, color, and possibility.

As a migrant artist, entering a new artistic circle has been challenging, but it has also been deeply meaningful to feel embraced by a community that has welcomed me so warmly. That experience of belonging, transformation, and finding a place within something new is also present in my work.

For me, collage is a space without a fixed timeline, where history can be questioned, discarded materials can have another life, and the fragments we inherit can become something entirely new.

The images shown are representative since they've been sold or could be shortly, new original works will be created specifically for the exhibition.
