Artist Statement

I create paintings that explore what it means to become fully human.

My work is an invitation to pause in a world that often rewards performance over presence. Through expressive portraiture, abstraction, botanical forms, layered textures, and symbolic geometry, I explore the quiet terrain of courage, vulnerability, healing, and transformation. Each painting asks a simple question: Who are we beneath the expectations, fears, and identities we’ve inherited?

Nature is both my collaborator and my teacher. The rhythms of water, the resilience of wildflowers, the stillness of the moon, and the interconnected patterns found throughout the natural world remind me that growth is rarely linear. Just as seasons change without apology, we too are continually invited to shed, bloom, rest, and begin again.

Rather than portraying perfection, I seek to reveal authenticity. I am drawn to moments where strength and softness exist together, where uncertainty becomes possibility, and where beauty emerges through imperfection. My paintings are layered in much the same way our lives are, with visible histories, hidden marks, and moments of unexpected clarity that gradually reveal themselves over time.

Working primarily with acrylic and oil, I build each piece through intuitive layering, balancing structure with spontaneity. Color becomes emotion. Texture becomes memory. Light becomes hope. Every brushstroke is an exploration of the invisible landscapes we carry within us.

My current body of work, Bold Becoming, celebrates the courage required to live authentically. It is a collection about remembering rather than becoming someone new, uncovering the strength, wisdom, and wholeness that have always existed beneath fear and self-doubt.

I hope my work offers viewers more than something beautiful to look at. I hope it offers a place to breathe, to reflect, and to recognize themselves. If someone walks away feeling a little more connected to their own inner voice, a little more compassionate toward themselves, or a little more willing to step toward the life they long for, then the painting has fulfilled its purpose.

Art has the quiet power to remind us that transformation does not happen all at once. It unfolds one honest moment, one courageous choice, and one brushstroke at a time.
