Artist Statement
Not only is Asbury Park a geographic coordinate in my life, it is landscape of my life. Born in Neptune and raised nearby in Freehold, my connection to Asbury stretches all the way back to childhood memories framed by its historic architecture, salty air, and resilient spirit. After years living on the west coast, planting roots here feels like completing a circle.
My work bridges local photography and up-cycled art, driven by a fascination with transformation and endurance, likely inspired by my grandparents who survived the Holocaust. Just as Asbury Park has continually reinvented itself, my artistic practice finds beauty in the discarded and the overlooked. Through my photography, I capture the raw, gritty pulse of the city, its landmarks, and its people. I aim to honor the history embedded in our physical surroundings while challenging how we perceive value, waste, and renewal.
Ultimately, my art is a visual exploration of a changing city seen through the eyes of someone who never truly left.
