Artist Statement
My work draws upon years of meditation practice while remaining rooted in contemporary artistic inquiry. Working with traditional Chinese ink painting, I combine minimalist imagery, handwritten text, and gentle humor to explore questions of identity, perception, impermanence, and the nature of self.
Rather than illustrating Buddhist teachings or offering fixed conclusions, I seek to create quiet spaces for reflection. My paintings often begin with ordinary experiences—eating, drinking tea, working, resting, or encountering the realities of aging, loss, and change—and invite viewers to slow down, observe their own experience, and discover meaning through contemplation rather than explanation.
I see ink not only as a traditional medium, but as a living language capable of engaging contemporary questions across cultures. Through simple images and everyday moments, I am especially interested in how awareness of impermanence can deepen our sense of presence, connection, and care for one another.
