Carol Sims
Artist Statement
I view my work as bold enthusiastic statements celebrating the splendor of Nature and Earth.
My childhood was filled with farm animals, pets, wild animals and huge gardens with flowers and vegetables. It’s even more important to me now that Earth is in climate crises.
It feels like I need to record what I have always seen as an Earth rider to help me feel more positive and to also bring a path of serenity to others as well.
My work is done with acrylics on canvas on a fairly large scale, with stimulating rich colors. The impressionists influenced me and Rosa Bonhuer was my hero, along with lots of others.
I capture future paintings with my camera and use them for reference to paint from. It helps put feeling into the work to have actually been there to smell the air and take in the environment.
