Karen Kraepel
Whimsical Acrylic Painter in Michigan
Artist Statement
Karen Kraepel is an artist based out of Michigan. She loves impressionism because this style depicts realism with such vibrancy. A lifetime art lover, Karen has taken art classes throughout the years and found the impressionist style is her way to communicate her passion for nature, animals, and wildlife. Karen enjoys traveling, taking pictures, and painting what she sees and/or what she imagines. Her techniques often include impasto, dry brushing, wet on wet, layering, splatter, and Pallet knife work. She says these techniques are a fun way to cover up a white canvas, which is her first step in her painting process. The themes in her work depict beautiful landscapes, unusual animals, and whimsical nature and scenes. As an environmentalist, Karen hopes to convey to the viewer the need to slow down and enjoy the world. Karen hopes viewers will find joy and peace in her work, and encourage viewers to search for the road less traveled, and discover unusual.
