Starr Downing

Artist Statement

Starr Downing is a self-taught visual artist raised in Baltimore, Maryland, and now based in Bel Air. Working across acrylic, oil pastel, and alcohol markers, she explores music, memory, grief, identity, and the complexity of being human. Through intimate scenes, expressive figures, and the interplay of deep shadows and warmth, her work gives form to emotions that are often difficult to articulate, inviting viewers to find pieces of their own stories in the quiet moments that shape who we become.
