Artist Statement
Bio: Lu Young is a Black multi-genre photographer with interests in nature & wildlife; macrophotography, & still life. Other genres include street, architecture, & landscapes/cityscapes.
Now based in Sacramento, Lu spent most of the 2010s traveling in Asia, Central America, & Fiji. Since buying his 1st Sony mirrorless camera in 2014, he’s been a Sony shooter. He also practices smartphone photography.
Statement: I make life-affirming photos that are good for you. By curating & creating beauty, I craft teaspoons of solace to battle oceans of suffering. My photography aims to spread delight & joy, fortifying observers amid the battle against fascism in the US, & globally. While the work might not appear political, each image represents a choice against despair & inaction, and creates an intentional bridge to viewers & collectors.
