Artist Statement
I create contemporary impressionist landscapes inspired by the Lowcountry, where water, light, and color become a language for emotion and experience. My work is not about replicating a place exactly as it appears, but about capturing how it feels to move through it—where stillness, movement, and memory exist all at once.
Living and working along the South Carolina coast, I am deeply influenced by the marshes, tidal creeks, and seasonal shifts that define this environment. These landscapes hold layered histories, but also offer something universal—space to reflect, to breathe, and to reconnect with a sense of wonder and belonging.
My process is intuitive. I balance loose, expressive brushwork with moments of detail, allowing each painting to evolve rather than forcing it into precision. Color plays a central role in this evolution; I often push beyond natural tones to convey light, energy, and mood.
Ultimately, my work invites the viewer to pause—to step into a place that feels both familiar and open, where landscape is not defined, but experienced.
