Artist Statement

I am a Minnesota-based mixed-media artist whose work explores resilience, transformation, and the inner landscapes we carry within us. My artistic practice is rooted in curiosity and intuition. Rather than beginning with a fixed outcome, I often allow color, texture, movement, and emotion to guide the work as it develops.

Nature is one of my strongest influences. I am especially drawn to plants that hold visual and symbolic strength: cacti that survive in harsh conditions, botanicals that unfold toward the light, and organic shapes that resemble roots, pathways, cells, or hidden landscapes. I use these natural forms to explore personal experiences in a way that feels universal.

My paintings often combine heavy-body acrylic, molding paste, watercolor glazes, ink, oil pastel, and metallic details. Texture is an important part of my work. I want the surface to feel alive and invite the viewer to come closer. Raised forms, visible cracks, layered color, and expressive marks become part of the emotional story. I am interested in the balance between control and surrender, strength and softness, and survival and growth.

My *Wild* series uses cactus imagery to explore resilience. These paintings reflect the ability to remain rooted, protect what is tender, and continue growing through difficult seasons. The series moves beyond survival toward confidence, freedom, and becoming fully alive.

My *Electric Botanicals* series continues that story. While *Wild* speaks to the strength required to survive, *Electric Botanicals* explores what happens afterward: the return of energy, desire, curiosity, joy, and the willingness to take up space. My *Inner Landscapes* drawings offer a quieter and more intuitive expression of these themes through detailed linework, organic forms, botanical elements, and intentional negative space.

My background in psychology, meditation, yoga, sound, and creative facilitation also influences the way I approach art. I see creativity as a meaningful form of self-discovery. Making art allows us to notice what is beneath the surface, give shape to emotion, and connect with parts of ourselves that may be difficult to express through words.

Ultimately, my work is about coming back to life. It honors where we have been without asking us to remain there. I hope viewers find their own stories within the colors, textures, and forms—and feel invited to recognize their strength, trust their inner world, and imagine what they may still be becoming.
