Artist Statement

David Garcia. Abstract Painter

Born and raised in New York City, I was always immersed in an environment full of inspiration, which sparked my passion for creating. My career as an Art Director and Designer in Advertising for over 35 years further fueled this drive to push the boundaries of creativity. Throughout my life, I've always been captivated by the process of making art, and painting has been a constant exploration for me.

In recent years, I’ve decided to pursue painting more seriously. The world of abstract art resonates with me, and I love interpreting the things that inspire me, like landscapes, the sea, architectural shapes and the space that surrounds. A constant exploration of contemporary compositions using color in a mix of soft and bold tones which envokes a sense of calm yet dynamic. Acrylic on canvas is my preferred medium, often incorporating mixed-media elements. I paint with an intuitive approach, layering paint, adding textures, and blending colors to create something unique.

For me, trusting the process and embracing the unknown are essential aspects of my artistic journey.
