Artist Statement
My photography snapshot moments in nature where movement, light, and organic form briefly come together to create something still and sculptural. I am magnetized to immersive perspectives, often working close to my subject to place the viewer within the environment rather than experiencing it from a distance.
Alongside ocean imagery, I am deeply drawn to skyscapes, particularly cloud formations, where light and atmosphere are constantly shifting. These moments are fleeting and no moment repeats itself. I may stand in the same place and take dozens of images, yet only walk away with a single photograph that fully captures the moment I was looking for. If I miss that precise instant, the image is gone.
Working with an iPhone requires me to rely on timing and instinct, as each photograph depends on choosing the exact moment to press the shutter rather than selecting from a sequence of frames. This is especially true when photographing waves, where motion, light, and position must align with precision. Each image becomes a balance of timing, chance, and presence, where a single successful photograph often emerges from precise timing and minimal capture.
