Artist Statement
I have spent my life creating art, drawing inspiration from my past experiences, current environment, and future goals. I don’t sketch out my ideas, they come from within. As each piece progresses, I build on or take away, step back, interpret what I see, and then alter where I think it's needed. To me, sculpture and painting are... trial and error and experimentation... frustration and joy... and it's a part of who I am. Each piece is one of a kind, born from my imagination and experience. It's a craft - a set of skills that produces original handmade work. At times, a science with unpredictable results. So many variables that can result in an eye-widening spectacle or the heartbreak of a piece that didn't quite reach its potential. I am constantly searching for the best way to adapt my ideas and turn them into inspiring artwork. If I capture a viewer’s attention to reflect upon my art for a moment, I have succeeded. My goal is to create unique and creative art that speaks to who I am
