Artist Statement

My work begins with the act of looking closely—at structure, light, texture, and the quiet transformations that occur when familiar subjects are isolated from their ordinary context. Working primarily in photography and digitally derived photographic art, I use the camera not simply to record what is there, but to reinterpret it: to distill form, reveal hidden relationships, and create images that move between observation and abstraction.
I am drawn to subjects that invite a second look—natural forms, architectural fragments, reflections, weathered surfaces, and details that might otherwise go unnoticed. Through selective framing, scale, tonal control, and post-processing, I seek to transform these fragments into images that feel at once intimate and monumental. My process is guided less by documentation than by resonance: I want the final work to hold mood, tension, and visual clarity while remaining open enough for viewers to bring their own associations to it.
Across my work, I am interested in the point where representation gives way to suggestion—where a feather becomes pure shape, a flower becomes gesture, or a structural detail becomes something almost sculptural. Whether the image is rooted in nature, architecture, or found visual phenomena, my aim is to create photographs that reward sustained looking and reveal beauty, ambiguity, and emotional presence within the overlooked.
