Artist Statement
I’m drawn to how people form personal relationships with familiar landmarks, shared symbols encountered through everyday routines and tourist viewpoints. I photograph small, specific moments against these backdrops, exploring the tension between the public and the private. Working with film helps me commit to a single encounter, waiting for the instant when someone’s attention, mood, or memory touches the place. The photograph becomes a meeting point: the viewer sees the subject’s relationship to the landmark, then feels their own associations rise to the surface.
