Hannah Carlisle

Artist Statement

Hannah Carlisle is a queer multidisciplinary artist raised in Phoenix, Arizona, currently living in Salt Lake City, Utah. Much of her work is inspired by memory and the lasting impact that symbols and stories have on our collective consciousness. Inspired by her background in tattooing, with subject matter ranging from cult classic films to historical conflicts, she seeks to create a monument to memory in every work and present each story as something to be not only preserved but honored. Nostalgia, technology, flesh wounds: how does memory become lasting?
