Artist Statement
My work explores the complexities of identity and migration through various medium like
sculpture, photography, and textile. Heavily influenced by my upbringing in the Philippines and current experiences living in the United States, I aim foster connection and differences between the two distinct cultures and redefine my identity as a third culture kid. Influencing the subject matter and materials of my work, from the use of denim, quilting, to the appropriation of pop culture, consumer brands, passports cover and traditional Filipino customs such as Parols to express the intertwining of both cultures.
