Artist Statement

Almost all of my work is inspired by the sea and shoreline. My aim is to engage others in the celebration of the colors, textures, and shapes of New England, especially its unique contrasting nature. To achieve that, I work in a variety of glazes and in two very distinct clays: porcelain and a coarser stoneware. The soft, graceful characteristics of porcelain and the rugged, sandy feel of stoneware, in my mind, represent that perfect duality. All of my pieces are hand built and one of a kind, but are distinctly part of a series.
