Artist Statement

As a multidisciplinary artist, my practice explores themes of identity through self-exploration and cultural critique. Drawing from my experiences as a woman, I am influenced by artists who combine powerful imagery with social criticism. In conversation with artists such as Ana Mendieta and Nan Goldin, I am creating a series of narrative motifs which depict my memories of sexual misconduct, translating personal memory into spaces of reflection, confrontation, and collective resonance.

I frame each painting as if looking at a photograph. By isolating these personal instances, I detach myself from my past self and the men who forced themselves on me. Sexual assault is a symptom of a societal illness, I'm asking the viewer to examine their relation to misogynist culture. Through my work I am encouraging and opening space for conversation and potential healing for others.
