Artist Statement

I am a pastel painter deeply inspired by the landscapes, animals, and florals of the places I have called home. My work seeks to capture the interplay of light and shadow, bringing these natural elements to life with the vibrant, immediate qualities of pastels.

The medium's rich pigmentation allows me to convey the textures and hues of the world around me, from the soft petals of a flower to the rugged contours of the hillside. I am drawn to the fleeting moments when light transforms the scene, creating dynamic contrasts and emotional depth. Through my art, I invite viewers to experience the beauty of these moments and the connection I feel to the environments that inspire me.

Pastels offer a unique immediacy that aligns with my creative process. I enjoy the spontaneity and tactile engagement they provide, allowing me to respond directly and immediately to my subject. Whether I am painting a serene landscape or the details of an animals eyes, my goal is to evoke the essence of my surroundings and the emotions it brings to me.
