Artist Statement

I work in painting, photography, charcoal, ink, and sometimes pottery. I don’t limit myself to one style, because the work changes depending on what I’m trying to communicate. I am studying psychology and philosophy, and apply both to push my work further. Besides capturing mood and compelling forms, there's an interest in inner experiences like memory, identity, emotion, and how those things can emerge even when they’re difficult to explain. I use figures and objects as subjects, especially human form and simple architecture, and employ colors, lines, shading, and negative space as ways to hold and translate those experiences rather than to illustrate clear narratives. How I work is tied to attention. I spend a lot of time observing, documenting, and then making from that without trying to force a consistent look or outcome. The material matters just as much as the execution. Charcoal, paint, ink, and other materials each carry something different, so I use whatever best fits the idea. Why I make art is not about commerce. I am focused on connection. I care about whether a piece reaches someone, whether that’s a quiet moment of recognition, comfort, or simple interest. That belief shapes how I move through my practice, including giving work away or creating for people when it feels needed.
