Artist Statement

I began my artistic career painting miniatures focused on the human experience: architecture, political vignettes, cemeteries, villages. Since the pandemic, when I spent most of my time in the woods, my art reflects a shift towards embracing the natural environment. My work is informed by the confluence of the outdoors and the human experience. My miniatures vary from contemplating vistas to the intimacy of trees. I currently build sculptures using gourds as the organic base, marrying natural material with inks, paint, and embellishments.
