Artist Statement

My focus is on the endless variety of the natural world and the people that inhabit it. I am a watercolorist that uses paints and brushes in a dance with water. First, I look at the scene critically and develop a composition that says what I want it to say, and I lightly draw it with pencil. Then when I am painting, I make an impression of my feelings of the scene or person. Sometimes the water creates something I did not expect. That makes the process exciting!
