Artist Statement
I fell in love with art as a high school student, and went on to major in art history in college. I worked in a gallery on Newbury Street for a number of years after I graduated and immersed myself in the art world, collecting paintings of artists I liked.
Eventually, what I admired in the works of others made me want to paint too. Over the years, I have studied with various teachers, taking courses at the DeCordova Museum, Mass Art, RISD, and with individual artists.
My husband and I have a home in Ireland, and the landscapes there are a favorite subject. My goal is to capture the beauty I see around me, whether in a landscape or still life. I try to create a sense of natural light in my work through color relationships. My hope is that my work expresses an appreciation of the natural world, whether it’s an expansive view of sea and mountains or tulips in a vase.
