Artist Statement

In Metamorphosis I, II, III, I explore the fluid boundary between movement and stillness through a sequence of three black and white charcoal drawings. The figure, captured mid-turn, hovers between front and back, presence and absence. Each image freezes a fleeting moment of transformation, inviting the viewer to experience the vulnerability and strength embedded in the act of becoming. The stark contrast of charcoal emphasizes both the raw immediacy and the delicate impermanence of change, suggesting that identity is not fixed, but always shifting—always in motion.
