Artist Statement

Ai ye kwee (Hello)

My name is Carina King and I am a fused glass artist incorporating my Native American heritage into my glasswork.

Glass has been a thread in my life from childhood to present day as a full time glass artist. My interest in glass started as a child when I made earrings from glass seed beads in all kinds of sparkly colors. As a teenager, I learned stained glass in school and continued to dabbled in it while working as an engineer.

Over the years, my glass hobby became a full time profession when my Mom introduced me to fusing glass. Being able to create my own sparkly colors, has absolutely drawn me in and I've been a full time fused glass artist since 2019.

Fusing glass allows me the creative freedom to incorporate many of my tribe's traditional basket designs into the glass. I thoroughly enjoy being able to fuse tradition into a beautiful contemporary art form.
