Britt Westveer

Artist Statement

Britt (she/her) is a queer multidisciplinary artist based between Milwaukee and Los Angeles, working across textiles and photography. She was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and grew up in a more rural area outside of the city. She holds a BFA from the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design. Her practice centers on the relationship between identity and nostalgia, weaving together analog techniques, forgotten traditional crafting, and digital tools. Through research, storytelling, and photography, she examines the erasure of women and queer histories. By reworking found imagery and narrative, she challenges romanticized folklore and invites reflection on those historically left out. Alongside her studio practice, she works full-time as an art mentor with a nonprofit, supporting adults with developmental disabilities in their creative careers.
