Artist Statement

I am an architect who loves drawing and painting. Drawing is fundamental. It can be the most flexible and versatile medium. Work can be very quickly extruded or longer studies and more finished work can be done. I start with multiple quick sketches. Then working from photographs and on-site observations, I can develop my drawing further in the studio. I use conte and graphite watercolor and acrylic and oil paint. I observe the urban and natural environment and try to capture its essence. I like spaces and environments there the natural and man made intersect. Overlapping and Divergent
