Artist Statement
I want my art to give the viewer something to think about. It may be evoking a memory or an emotion, or perhaps suggesting a different point of view. Language often drives my work, with a line from a song, or a verse of poetry or scripture inspiring a piece. I sculpt what I am observing in the world, what I am feeling, and what I need to say.
While I have explored different media including bronze casting, direct metal fabrication, stone carving and found object assemblage, I am currently concentrating on ceramic sculpture. I appreciate the direct contact between my hands and the clay working together to form a unique piece.
