Gary Karasek

Artist Statement

After more than 40 years as an architect in the St. Louis metropolitan area, Gary Karasek has embraced his lifelong passion for art as a full-time pursuit. His background in architecture continues to influence his paintings through an appreciation for structure, geometry, the play of light, and thoughtful composition.

Gary continues to explore new techniques, fresh perspectives, and exciting possibilities. Whether through painting, immersive multimedia presentations, or creative collaborations, he is drawn to work that encourages viewers to slow down, look more closely, and engage their imagination.

One of Gary’s most distinctive bodies of work is his Ethereal Environments collection of oil paintings. Blending realism and abstraction, these paintings depict imaginative landscapes that feel both familiar and dreamlike. Through bold color, geometric patterns, and luminous light effects, they invite viewers to pause, look deeper, and discover new details and personal meaning within each scene.
