Artist Statement

My canvas is both my medium and my message. I paint what surrounds me and what shapes me—childhood memories, daily life, and my experiences. Each piece begins with loose charcoal lines and splashes of color that evolve organically, without a set plan.
Born and raised in India with a fine arts degree from Chennai, India, I was introduced to both Indian and Western Art traditions and developed a lasting love for each. My work often shifts between Indian folk art and modernist styles like Impressionism and Cubism, reflecting my dual influences.
Now rooted in California, I carry both cultures within me. When I paint buildings, I think of the architect, the builders, and the lives unfolding within. When I paint abstract figures, I think about the joys, challenges and journey they are on. Each painting invites the viewer to look beyond the surface—to see themselves reflected in the stories, and emotions layered across the canvas represented by the colors, textures, shapes and squiggles that represent the variations in our lives.
